For seventy years, LCWR has walked alongside women religious as they responded to the changing needs of the world with faith, courage, and hope. Now, this anniversary invites us into something more than a celebration. It is an historic encounter that brings together women and men religious from Canada, the United States, and Latin America for a first of its kind gathering across the Americas. Rooted in prayer, contemplation, and the Conversation in the Spirit process, we will listen deeply to one another's stories, wisdom, hopes, and questions as we reflect on this vocation together. Through personal witness, profound dialogue, and communal reflection, we will discover how our many charisms continue to be united by one Spirit and one call. As we journey together, we will not simply reflect on seventy years of grace, we will help shape the vocation of religious life, carrying home renewed vision, deeper communion, and a shared commitment to God's mission in our world.
At the 2026 LCWR Assembly, the National Black Sisters’ Conference (NBSC) launched the “I Am an NBSC Ally” Initiative, inviting women religious and conference attendees to visibly stand in solidarity with Black women religious and the mission of NBSC.

Throughout the Assembly, LCWR members and attendees stopped by the NBSC exhibit booth—one by one and in groups—to learn more about NBSC and how they could become active allies. Those accepting the pledge received an “I AM AN NBSC ALLY” badge, creating a powerful and visible expression of support throughout the gathering.
At the heart of the initiative was one simple call to action: “If You See a Sister, Ask a Sister: Are You an NBSC Member?”
The initiative encourages allies to identify Black women religious within their congregations, communities, and networks, introduce them to NBSC, encourage membership, and support their connection to the wider community of Black Catholic Sisters.
Most importantly, the campaign allowed Black women religious to see the support surrounding them—from LCWR, their community sisters, and fellow Assembly attendees. What began as conversations at the NBSC booth became a visible demonstration of sisterhood, solidarity, and shared commitment.
