Sister in the Spotlight Sr. Mary Ann Henagan, MSBT

Sr. Mary Ann Henagan was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised as a Baptist. From her early teens, she felt the call of God’s grace to join the Catholic Church and do something special with her life. This call, unknown to Mary Ann at the time, was always supported by her mother’s prayers. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit and her pastor, she entered the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity. Sr. Mary Ann earned a nursing degree and later an MA in Spiritual Direction. This training and her gentle spirit have enabled her to bring the compassionate Christ to all she meets throughout her service at many of our missions.

Public Recognition…

In 1995, Sr. Mary Ann joined the National Black Sister Conference. She has served on their Board of Directors and led retreats for young women of color, providing them with opportunities to deepen their understanding of their Catholic faith. In 2010, the National Black Sisters Conference recognized her many years of ministry to the Black Community and her years of service to the Black Sisters Conference by presenting her with its Harriet Tubman Award.

This is what Missionary Servants do…

… because of her concern for the spiritual needs of the marginalized. Her many ministries led her to the poor, the sick, the elderly, and the neglected. Impelled by her love of the Holy Spirit, she continues to bring God’s gifts of consolation and peace to the many she meets.
