Sister Rosetta Marie Brown, OP Celebrates 60th Jubilee

Sister Rosetta Marie Brown, OP, and 10 other Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa will celebrate their 60th jubilee Oct. 24, 2026. Her religious name was Sister Oranda, and her home parish is Holy Name, Washington, D.C. She is the daughter of the late Marvin and Roberta (Meriedy) Brown.Her ministry has been dedicated to education as a teacher, adviser, and assessor.


In the Archdiocese of Washington, she taught at Sacred Heart, Washington, D.C., 1967-1968, 1971-1972, and 1973-1978; and Nannie Helen Burroughs, Washington, D.C., 1991-1992. She ministered as a guidance counselor at Immaculate Conception High School, Washington, D.C., 1980-1984; All Saints High School, Washington, D.C., 1984-1987; and St. Martin School, Washington, D.C., 1987-1991. Sister Rosetta served as a counselor and educational specialist at Arch Training Center, Washington, D.C., 1992-1993; a case manager for Project Uplift at Youth Services Alliance, Silver Spring, 1993-1997; and as senior educational specialist at Covenant House, Washington, D.C., 1997-2012. She served as National External Diploma Program advisor and assessor at Springarn STAY High School, Washington, D.C., 2012-2014; Four Walls, Washington, D.C., 2014-2015; and Roosevelt, Washington, D.C., since 2015. She is a member of the National Black Sisters Conference. She has also ministered in Alabama, Wisconsin, and Maryland.
